I am a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate in economics at Florida State University and am on the job market this year. I am expecting to graduate in May 2027. I am an applied microeconomist working in health, regulatory, public policy, and urban economics, with a focus on econometrics and causal inference. My dissertation committee is chaired by Carl Kitchens and includes Luke Rodgers, Katie Yewell, and Danielle Atkins.
My job market paper, "When Transparency Works: Service Shoppability, Contracting Depth, and the Price Effects of Hospital Disclosure," asks whether requiring hospitals to post their prices lowers what insurers pay. I find that it does, but only for services whose full scope is known before care is delivered. For services whose scope is uncertain until care is underway, prices do not respond.
